ANNUAL AWARDS

(Only Life Members of IAVP are eligible for the awards)



The Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists have instituted a number of awards. Awards are distributed to Veterinary Pathologists who have excelled in professional competence as assessd by appropriate criteria. This year there are 12 awards to be given.  Please compete in good number for the advancement in the knowledge of Veterinary Pathology. The last date for acceptance of award application is one month before the opening day of conference.  The awards are listed below with respective criteria for each one of them.

I   YOUNG SCIENTISTS AWARDS (TWO Nos.)

A. SKM ANIMAL FEEDS AND FOODS (INDIA) LTD. AWARD.

B. NARMADA HATCHERIES AWARD

1. There are two awards for the best presentation of technical papers during annual conference.

2. Full technical papers along with the abstract (200 words) for
consideration should reach the Organizing Secretary before
the closing date.  Additional online submission to Secretary General by e-mail
is a must for inclusion in the list.

3. Papers received after the closing date will not be considered for the award.

Conditions for participation:

1. The Technical papers may be on any topic with a bearing on Veterinary Pathology.

2. The work must have been carried out in any institution in India.

3. The person who is presenting the papers should be one of the authors and not have completed 35 years of age and must have made major contribution to the work (A certificate from the Head of the Department/Institution with age proof is to be sent along with the paper).

4. The presentation should be completed in 10 minutes.

5. The decision of the judges will be final.

6. The papers adjudged for awards would be published in Indian J. Vet Path. Hence, a copy of the full paper with photographs, tables, etc. should be submitted to the editor after the Conference.

II  BEST POSTER PRESENTATION AWARDS (Two Nos.)

A  SAVITHREE JIBACHCH SINHA BEST POSTER PRESENTATION AWARD

B  ORGANISING SECRETARY AWARD

1. There are two awards for the best presentation of poster papers during annual conference.

2. Full technical papers along with the abstract (200 words) for
consideration should reach the Organizing Secretary before
the closing date.  Additional online submission to Secretary General by e-mail is a must for inclusion in the list.

3. Papers received after the last date will not be considered for the award.

Conditions for the presentation

1. One poster per scientist will be accepted for presentation.

2. The topic should have a bearing on Veterinary pathology.

3. The work should be his/her original contribution & must have been carried out in India.

4. A time slot will be allotted to each scientist.

5. The participating scientist should be available at the time of presentation.

6. The poster will be provided 90cmx90cm space for presentation.

7. The presentation should cover purpose of study, Material and Methods, Results and Conclusions.

8. The decision of the Judging Committee will be final.

III DR. C.M. SINGH AWARD FOR BEST IJVP RESEARCH ARTICLE

The best research Article with a bearing on Veterinary Pathology published in the Indian Journal of Veterinary Pathology during the year of Publication would be considered for the award. The Award consists of a Gold Medal and a Certificate.

Conditions for participation:

1. The research should have been conducted in India.

2. The article should have bearing on Veterinary Pathology

3. The President IAVP will nominate a panel of judges.

4. The copies of the Journal will be sent to the Chairperson and two Members of the committee for evaluation of the Best Research Article published during preceding year.

IV GANG-MANA SHARMA AWARD FOR BEST IJVP RESEARCH
ARTICLE ON PACK ANIMALS

1. The award will be given to those who have published the best research article on Pack animals (Horses, Mules, Donkeys, Camel & Yak)

Conditions for the awards

    The conditions are similar to that of Dr. C.M. Singh Award. (III)

V  BEST POST GRADUATE THESIS AWARD

A.  Dr. RAM RAKSHA KIRAN SHUKLA AWARD FOR THE BEST M.V.Sc. THESIS.

    B   Dr. PATRI RAMA RAO AWARD FOR THE BEST Ph.D. THESIS

Conditions for participation :

1. The Thesis should have been approved (including viva-voce
examination during January to December of preceding year)

2. The research work should have been conducted in India.

3. Thesis should accompany a certificate from the major advisor that it was approved during the stipulated period of time as per the institution/University norms-to be submitted at the Conference.

4. A copies of abstract should be submitted online by e-mail to the Secretary General IAVP by the closing date for processing.

5. Submit a copy of thesis at the conference venue at the time of registration for evaluation.  The thesis will be accepted only from the applicants as at S.No. 4 above.

VI  VARSHA AWARD FOR POULTRY

    This award has been instituted for the Best Poultry Pathologist. It consists of a silver plaque and a citation.

Conditions for the award

  1. Outstanding contribution in the field of Poultry Pathology with relevant publications.

2.   Submission of last three years outstanding research contribution of the individual / Institution.

3.   Scientist once awarded is not eligible.

4.   Send application with a summary of your work done report before closing date to the Secretary General and submit three copies of your full report for evaluation at conference venue.

VII  VARSHA AWARD FOR BEST WORK IN OTHER SPECIES OF ANIMALS

Conditions for Award:

1.   Outstanding contribution in the field of Veterinary Pathology on Species of animals other than poultry.

2.   Submission of last three years outstanding research contribution of the individual / Institution.

3.   Scientist once awarded is not eligible.

4.   Send application with a summary of your work done report before closing date to the
Secretary General and submit three copies of your full report for evaluation at conference venue.

VIII   FELLOW OF INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF VETERINARY PATHOLOGISTS (FIAVP)

Conditions for participation:

1.   Outstanding Pathologists based on their contribution to the development of Pathology or Veterinary Education/Research can apply for the Fellowship.

2.   The applicant should be a Pathologist of eminence with a standing of 10 years as life member.

3.   In all Three sets of full report need to be submitted. Send one set of full bio-data including self appraisal report of 200 words with all contributions in Veterinary Pathology to Secretary General within closing date along with a processing fee of Rs. 1000 as DD payable to The Treasurer, IAVP at Bareilly (Those who paid the fee earlier, can apply for up to a total of three times with the proof of earlier payment). Submit the remaining two sets to the Secretary General at the conference venue.

IX   Drs. NEMI CHAND JAIN AND JAWAHAR LAL VEGAD AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING RESEARCH IN VETERINARY PATHOLOGY

RULES & REGULATIONS:

1.   The award will consist of a certificate and amount of Rs. 10,000/-

2.   The award will be given every year during the Annual Conference of the

       Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists (IAVP), starting from the year 

       2000.

3.   The award will be given to an individual Veterinary Pathologist/ Scientist, or a team of workers. In case of a team of workers, the award money will be divided amongst the team members and each awardee will receive a certificate.

4.   The awardee will not be eligible to reapply for another award for the five years from the date of initial award.

5.   The awardees shell present his/her/their work at the annual conference of IAVP where the award will be conferred on him/her/them.

6.   Three copies of the application giving research work conducted in India at a recognized Institute / University during the preceding five years should be submitted including bio-data of the applicant, reprints of publications pertinent to the work submitted for the award, and a signed statement indicating when and where the research work was conducted should be submitted to the Secretary General, IAVP at the conference venue.

7. Applications including three sets of only brief summary of your work at Sr. No. 6 above must be submitted within the designated period (closing date) to the Secretary - General of IAVP along with non-refundable processing fee of Rs, 500 in the form of a demand draft payable to the Treasurer, IAVP at Bareilly. The fee of Rs 500 is not to be paid on reapplication. A candidate can apply for the award only thrice.

8.   The award will be given on research work pertaining to fundamental or infectious or non-infectious diseases of animals including poultry and fish.

9.   The decision of the judging committee will be final.

     

X  Dr. P.P. Gupta Oration award for presentation of outstanding research findings on any topic in Veterinary Pathology:

Rules and regulations:

            The award is applicable to a distinguished Retired Veterinary Pathologist (Life member of IAVP).  The person to deliver the oration will be nominated by the Executive Committee Members and will be approved by the General Body of IAVP.  The person selected for the award will be paid Rs 2000 to meet the travel expenses after making presentation.

XI  Dr. Nemi Chand Jain Lifetime Achievement Award in Veterinary Pathology

Note: The award being in alternate years will be applicable in the year 2006, 2008 and so on. (Instituted in the year  2004)

Rules and Regulations:

  1. The award will consist of a citation, a certificate and cash of Rs. 25,000.
  2. The award will be given in the alternate year starting in the year 2004.
  3. The award is applicable to a distinguished Veterinary Pathologist or Clinical Pathologist of above 55 years of age.
  4. The applicant must have spent most of his/her career pursuing research /teaching in Veterinary Pathology at an Academic or Research Institute in India.
  5. The award (wherever due) will be announced along with other IAVP awards by the Secretary General.
  6. Each aspirant should submit five copies of application along with curriculum vitae, list of publications, and reprints of significant scientific publications (at least 10) to the Secretary General, IAVP at the conference venue.
  7. Applications including five sets of only brief summary of your work at Sr. No. 6 above must be submitted within the designated period (closing date) to the Secretary General of IAVP along with non-refundable processing fee of Rs, 500 in the form of a demand draft payable to the Treasurer, IAVP at Bareilly.   8. The applicant should give an undertaking while submitting the application that the information provided is true and up-to date and that he/she collaborated in or did all the research and creative works being submitted for the award.
  9. Five experts/subject matter specialists nominated by the President, IAVP, will evaluate the applicants based on the following criteria: (Major emphasis will be given to scientific contributions, quality of research, and creative writing)
    1. Quality of Research
    2. Quality of Publication
    3. Significant Contributions
    4. Original Contribution in the Specific Subject
    5. Contributions in Teaching including Post-Graduate Education
    6. Number of Master and Doctorate Students Guided
    7. Number of Books, Book Chapters, Laboratory Manuals and Teaching Aids Published or Prepared
    8. Honors and Awards Received
    9. National and International Reputation (including citation in citation index)
    10. Contribution to the Society and Public Service.
  10. In case of any dispute, the decision of the President, IAVP will be final.

XI Prof. (Dr.) S. Ramachandran Memorial Molecular Oncology Award for the best presentation of Research work (at IAVP Conference)

Terms of the Award:

1.      This award is instituted by Dr. (Mrs.) Sakkubai P. Ramachandran, B.V.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Edin.), wife of late Prof. (Dr.) S. Ramachandran B.A., B.V.Sc., M.Sc., D.V.S.M. (Edin), Dip.Bact (Manch), Ph.D (Edin), FNYASc, FNAVSc, FIAVP, Visiting Scientist, Centre for Tropical Veterinary Medicine, Royal (Dick) College of Veterinary Science, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland, U.K.

2.      The award is restricted to the subject/topic Molecular Oncology only.

3.      The award will be given every year during the Annual Conference of IAVP beginning from the year 2005.

4.      The award consists of a Certificate and a Gold Medal.

5.      The award is given to an individual or to a team of scientists, which need to be stated at the time of application. In case of team award, the first author will receive the Gold Medal with certificate and the others will receive individual certificate only.

6.      The award is given to the best research work presented in the field of Molecular Oncology at the Annual IAVP Conference. If there are no high quality research works/presentations, the award may be deferred for that particular year and shall be appropriated in the subsequent years.

7.      The research work should be original contribution to Molecular Oncology carried out during the past three years in any of the Veterinary Institutions in India.

8.      The recipients(s) of the award should be a Life Member(s) of IAVP.

9.      The President of the IAVP shall constitute a three member committee to select the Awardee and the decision of the committee shall be final.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

1. One need to apply for the award except those on serial Nos. III, IV and X above.

2. Award X is applicable in alternate years i.e. 2004, 2006, 2008 and so on

2. The application for the award is simple on plain paper addressed to Secretary General. The applicant should write that he/she fulfills all the conditions of the award. The application need to be forwarded through Head of the Department except in case where the applicant is a retired person.

*All the awards are for IAVP life members only. Any person who is or has been engaged in research/teaching of pathology or disease investigation work and possesses a postgraduate degree or diploma in pathology is eligible to become a life or Annual Member.
